(Rio Grande Valley, TX) — The Border Patrol is starting a new program to help save the lives of illegals who lose their way in the Rio Grande Valley.
People who are lost, overheated and dehydrated in the area often call 911 but can’t give rescuers an accurate idea of where they are.
The Border Patrol’s Missing Migrant Program will place more than a thousand signs on prominent landmarks in South Texas.
The signs have simple instructions on how to call 911 and give the dispatcher the sign’s unique number, which is keyed to a GPS location.
