The beer industry is worried about the consequences of President Trump’s proposed tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. Local craft brewers rely on cheaper material prices in order to be able to compete with the big labels. Brewers use stainless steel in their tanks and aluminum in their cans. Having a tariff imposed on two materials they buy in bulk will cut into their profit margins. Smaller brewers could be put out of business, while the big brewers will more easily absorb the cost.
