(Washington, TX) — Today is the 182nd anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
An annual two-day living history celebration is scheduled for this weekend in Washington-on-the-Brazos, where 59 delegates met in 1836 to formally declare the independence of the Republic of Texas from Mexico.
The free event features live music, food, crafts, musket and cannon firings, a play about the signers of the declaration, and other programs.
