(Brownsville, TX) — SpaceX is reportedly making bigger plans for its delayed South Texas launch pad.
The original plan for the Boca Chica beach site called for a single launch pad and its infrastructure. A state representative now says SpaceX may expand the launch facility’s mission to include the landing and refurbishment of rockets.
Democrat René Oliveira, whose district includes the Boca Chica site, says the expanded SpaceX facility would create jobs and contribute to the local economy. Oliveira says the site may be ready to launch by 2019.
