(Washington, DC) — The White House is pulling the nomination of two controversial nominees to the federal bench. Multiple news sources report a Trump administration official confirmed that Alabama lawyer Brett Talley’s nomination will not go forward. Critics questioned Talley’s credentials after the American Bar Association rated him “unanimously unqualified” for the post. The Harvard Law School graduate admitted he had never argued a case or even a motion in federal court.
It’s also been confirmed the nomination of Jeff Mateer to a federal court in Texas will not move forward over concerns about anti-LGBT statements. Mateer once described transgender children as being part of “Satan’s plan,” and suggested the 2015 Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage could lead to bestiality or polygamy.
