(Washington, DC) — The U.S. is pulling out of an international effort to manage migration.
In a statement, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the United Nations plans for a Global Compact on Migration could undermine U.S. ability to enforce its immigration laws and secure its borders. The UN is working to get a 2016 document on the management of refugees and migrants into an international agreement.
Tillerson say the measure contains a number of policies that conflict with U.S. laws.
