(Washington, DC) — Florida Senator Bill Nelson is calling on federal transportation officials to go ahead with plans to establish new rules for airlines. They would require that airlines make passengers aware of fees before they buy their tickets, such as those for baggage, changes and cancellations, priority boarding and seating. Last week, the Trump administration announced it was withdrawing a proposal to implement the new rules. Nelson, the top Democrat on the Senate Commerce Committee which oversees the nation’s airline industry, says consumers should have a right to know ahead of time what they’re paying for.
