(Undated) — The lead singer and songwriter for the rock band the Smithereens is dead.
Pat DiNizio died yesterday according to a post on the band’s website. The cause of death was not announced. The New Jersey band hit it big in the late 80s with hits like “A Girl Like You,” “Blood and Roses” and “Only a Memory.”
The band continued to tour and record with DiNizio posting on Facebook several days ago he was looking forward to getting back on tour as he continued to recover from back and neck injuries.
Pat Dinizio was 62.
