(Islamorada, FL) — Just three months after Hurricane Irma impacted the Florida Keys, one resort is back in business.  Tourists returned to Islamorada’s Amara Cay Resort as it reopened 110 guestrooms and suites in addition to various amenities yesterday.  Workers and contractors were on site to touch up the beach and landscaping. Most tourism areas in less-affected Key Largo and Key West were able to get back up and running by the Keys’ October 1st formal reopening. But other areas like Islamorada have required more time. Keys Tourism Officials say 32-percent of hotel rooms in Islamorada have reopened.  That’s compared to more than 90-percent in Key West and 76-percent in Key Largo. Officials say additional accommodations are expected to relaunch after the first of the year.
