(Baghdad) — Iraq’s Prime Minister is declaring victory over ISIS.
Haider Al Abadi [[ HEYE-dair al-ah-BAH-dee ]] announced on Twitter today that the Iraqi military has secured the entire border along Syria and the terrorist group has been defeated. It followed an earlier statement by the military saying they had “fully liberated” and taken control of all of Iraq territory formerly held by ISIS terrorists.
At one time, ISIS had controlled more than 34-thousand square miles of land in Iraq. A U.S. official offered congratulations and promised continued support of Iraqi security forces.
