(Los Angeles, CA) — Hurricane-force winds are fanning the wildfires in Southern California.
Forecasters say the winds could hit 80 miles an hour, reversing any progress firefighters have made in containing the blazes. There are at least four separate fires burning throughout Ventura and Los Angeles county.
The fires have led to the evacuation of nearly 200-thousand people and the largest fire, The Thomas Fire, has burned more than 90-thousand acres. The smallest is the Skirball Fire, but it’s burning near heavily populated areas of Los Angeles, including expensive neighborhoods close to Beverly Hills.
