(Fort Worth, TX) — The Fort Worth Police Department has the green light to hire more new officers.
On Tuesday night, City Council approved the hiring of more officers for the third time in the past few months. The 29 new officers will make a total of 89 new positions since August. With a budgeted number of more than 17-hundred-50 officers on the force, Fort Worth now has more than enough officers to patrol the streets.
It’s a sharp contrast with the situation in Dallas, where large numbers of officers are retiring or leaving for other cities.
