(Ventura, CA) — Firefighters in Southern California are making some progress in containing the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Cali. fire officials cited calmer winds in slowing the spread of the blaze, which has now burned 143-thousand acres and damaged or destroyed over 400 homes. The fire remains at ten percent containment. Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for most of Ventura County. Officials warn the fight is far from over and people in the area should keep aware of changing conditions and follow all orders.
