(Beijing) — Former NBA star Dennis Rodman wants to broker peace through sport. Speaking in China Monday, Rodman said he’d like to set up a basketball game between North Korea and the U.S. territory of Guam.
He says it’s a way to try and defuse dangerous tensions mounting between the U.S. and the isolated nation. Guam’s national basketball team coach E.J. Calvo endorsed the idea, saying it would inspire young players and could have a positive impact.
Rodman thinks the game should be held in Beijing. Rodman has made several trips to North Korea and considers leadger Kim Jong Un a friend.
