(Washington, DC) — The city of DC is building a new Short Term Family Housing site in Ward 1.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced last week the final location in the District’s plan to close DC General Family Shelter. The Columbia Heights site on 14th Street will include 35 short-term family housing apartments and 15 permanent units for low-income seniors. It is expected to open in the Spring of 2020.
Construction for similar projects in the remaining Wards is already underway.
