Cruise Ship Back In Port After Hundreds Fall Ill

(Port Everglades, FL) — A Royal Caribbean cruise ship is back in port after 300-plus passengers became sick at sea.  The cruise line says 332 cases of a stomach virus were reported among passengers and crew. The ship returned to port last night in Port Everglades, Florida after a five-night cruise. A woman from Genesee, New York told WPLG-TV that she and six of her relatives became violently ill. She described a scene of people becoming ill in the elevator on the way to the ship’s medical facility. A Royal Caribbean spokesman says only six-percent of the five-thousand passengers aboard became ill.
