(Washington, DC) — Politics and rhetoric is taking a back seat at the nation’s capital to a little holiday cheer. The Capitol’s official Christmas tree was lit for the season. It’s an 80-foot tall spruce taken from a National Forest in the northwest corner of Montana. It’s been adorned with 35-hundred ornaments and the star at the top was made by a craftsman from Montana. It’s a tradition that the Speaker of the House light the official capitol Christmas tree, so Speaker Paul Ryan, with the help of a Montana sixth grader, flipped the switch.
