(Cross Roads, TX) — A North Texas police officer is under arrest on claims he took over 800-dollars in groceries.
Northeast police say Dallas Officer Christopher Hankins took the groceries early this morning from a Walmart in Cross Roads. Hankins is accused of walking past the cash registers without bothering to pay for the almost 170 items.
Police say he was wearing his Dallas Police Department windbreaker and is charged with misdemeanor theft.
ABC news reported that “Hankins told officers that he panicked thinking his car had been stolen, so he went outside with his grocery cart. Officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and the store manager told them that Hankins had been shopping in the store for about three hours while acting suspicious.”
