(Washington, DC) — Senator Rand Paul says he will introduce an amendment to the Senate tax bill to repeal the Obamacare individual mandate.
The Kentucky Republican tweeted today that the repeal would provide greater tax relief to the middle class.
He wrote, “The mandate repeal is a promise we all made and we should keep. It allows an additional 300-billion-dollars in tax cuts.”
Inclusion of the repeal would likely prevent Senate Republicans from receiving the necessary support to pass the bill, so it is unlikely Senator Paul’s amendment will pass.
At a hearing yesterday, Republican Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee said the tax bill aims to help American workers and families.
