Marlins’ Stanton, Astros’ Altuve Win MLB MVP Awards

(Secaucus, NJ)  —  Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton and Astros second baseman Jose Altuve are Major League Baseball’s Most Valuable Players. Stanton beat out fellow finalists in Reds first baseman Joey Votto and Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt in the National League.  Stanton and Votto each received 10 first-place votes, with just two total points separating them in the voting.  Stanton led the majors with 59 home runs and 132 RBI this year. Altuve received 27-of-30 first-place votes to take American League honors. He beat out Yankees outfielder and AL Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge and Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez. Altuve hit .346 to win his third batting title in four years, while leading the league with 204 hits for the World Series champion Astros.
