(Washington, DC) — They’re off. House Republicans have started a big push on their new tax cut bill.
Opening a hearing today, Texas Republican Kevin Brady called it historic legislation that will bring lasting tax relief to millions of Americans.
He said the federal tax code is unfair and broken. Brady chairs the powerful Ways and Means Committee. Massachusetts Democrat Richard Neal said the GOP tax bill aims to boost the wealthy. He accused Republicans of throwing a big tax bill together behind closed doors and he called for a bipartisan effort on tax reform.
