(Washington, DC) — The Senate is suspending debate on the tax bill as Republicans scramble to get the votes needed for it to pass. Senate GOP leaders are making last-minute changes to the bill and won’t vote on it until at least tomorrow. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he wanted a final vote on the massive tax overhaul by the end of the week. A group of Republicans want assurances written into the bill that would raise taxes if there wasn’t enough economic growth to pay for the proposed tax cuts. The bill got a major boost today when Arizona Republican John McCain said he will support the measure. Republicans have little margin for error with a slim, 52-48 majority. All Democrats are expected to vote no.
