(The Hague) — A courtroom inside The Hague is now a crime scene after a Bosnian war criminal drank poison.
Court officials say 72-year-old Slobodan Praljak took the poison as a verdict in his case was read. He’s one of six former Bosnian Croat generals and other military leaders appearing before a war crimes court today in the Netherlands. On hearing his 20-year prison sentence, Praljak announced, “I have taken poison.” Croatian media says Praljak died, but the UN court says it can’t confirm it.
A stunned looking judge handling the case quickly shut down the hearing and cleared the courtroom.
