(New Windsor, NY) — Police now say at least 20 people are hurt, including five firefighters, following an explosion this morning at a cosmetics plant in New York’s Hudson Valley region.
Officials say the explosion triggered a fire, which has been sending black smoke billowing from the Verla International plant in New Windsor in Orange County.
Officials are ordering residents in the area to shelter in place and shut their windows because of the smoke.
