(Washington, DC) — President Trump is repeating a call to NFL owners to punish players who take a knee during the national anthem.
Speaking at the White House today, Trump called such protests highly disrespectful to the anthem and the American flag.
He was asked about reported comments by former rival Hillary Clinton, supporting the protests by some players. Fox News reports that Clinton said the protests are about against racism and injustice in America.
During a speech in London, Clinton said kneeling is a reverent position and has nothing to do with the national anthem or the American flag. Trump said that kind of thinking is why Clinton lost the presidential election. He also expressed the hope that Clinton will run again in 2020.
