(Dallas, TX) — The State Fair of Texas is the winner in an open-records lawsuit. A Dallas judge on Wednesday dismissed the lawsuit against the nonprofit and awarded the fair more than 208-thousand dollars. The suit, filed by an Austin-based law firm, claimed that the fair should be subject to the state’s public information laws as a governmental body. State Fair officials pointed out they don’t get any public money and are only a nonprofit that has a contract with the city of Dallas. Most of the award will go to pay legal fees.
