(Washington, DC) — The National Park Service is denying a permit for a statue of a giant naked woman on the Washington, DC Mall.
Group members for “R-Evolution” had said they were optimistic they would be granted the necessary permits for the unusual 45-foot, 16-thousand-pound display.
Already 100-thousand dollars has been raised to transport the statue from San Francisco and assemble it near the Washington Monument. It would have stood for four months. A Park Service spokesman says the agency thought the statue would detract from views of the Washington Monument.
