(Newark, NJ) — Former President Obama is in New Jersey today to support the Democratic candidate running for governor. He’ll appear at an invitation-only event with Phil Murphy at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark.
It’s being billed as a “canvass kickoff” for Murphy, who’s running against Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno.
Then, Obama will head to Richmond, Virginia, to stump for Democrat Ralph Northam, who’s running for governor against Republican Ed Gillespie. Today’s events mark the first time Obama is hitting the campaign trail since leaving the White House.
