(Undated) — The NFL Players Association is filing an emergency stay on behalf of suspended Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
The move comes a day after a U.S. District Court judge denied a request for a preliminary injunction to block the suspension until the legal process plays out in court, reinstating Elliott’s six-game ban.
This is the third time the NFLPA has tried to get the suspension put on hold. The NFLPA is requesting the court to rule on its motion by 7 p.m. Eastern tonight. If the court denies the motion, the NFLPA would then seek relief from the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Elliott was suspended six games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. That was related to domestic violence charges by his former girlfriend in 2016, although Elliott was never arrested or charged.
