(Lubbock, TX) — Lubbock police are admitting they had contact with the teen accused of killing a Texas Tech cop hours before the shooting.
Police told reporters Thursday that Hollis Daniels III was pulled over early Monday morning after officers got a report about a stolen firearm. Officers did not search Daniels’ vehicle because the 19-year-old refused, and they didn’t get a warrant because there wasn’t probable cause.
It’s believed Daniels used the stolen weapon to kill TTU Officer Floyd East Jr. on Monday night inside Tech police HQ.
Police say Daniels did not have a weapon on him when they searched him before he killed East, and aren’t sure how he got the gun.
