(Houston, TX) — Oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico is again being hampered by hurricane activity. As Hurricane Nate made its way toward landfall over the weekend, oil companies evacuated hundreds of production platforms and shut down 92 percent of the region’s crude oil production. In all, forty-three oil companies shut down operations in the path of the Category 1 storm, which hit Biloxi, Mississippi, on Sunday morning. Hurricane Harvey had interfered with Gulf oil and gas production in late August.
