(Washington, DC) — Facebook and Twitter are detailing before members of Congress the widespread influence of Russian posts during the 2016 election.
In prepared testimony given to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Facebook revealed that 126 million Americans saw Russia-backed posts.
Facebook claims about 29 million people directly saw some 80-thousand posts by 120 fake Russian accounts, but those posts spread after being liked or shared.
Twitter also says it’s found nearly 37-thousand fake accounts linked to Russia that operated between September 1st and November 15th, 2016. Those automated accounts tweeted one-point-four-million times and were viewed 288 million times.
