(Los Angeles, CA) — The group that awards Oscars will be looking into the allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors will hold an emergency meeting Saturday.
A statement from the Academy calls the claims of sexual abuse against the disgraced producer “repugnant, abhorrent” and incompatible with the standards of the creative community.
The Academy did not indicate what, if any, actions might be taken against Weinstein. A number of women, including actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, have made claims against Weinstein ranging from harassment to rape.
