(New York, NY) — Three men are accused of plotting a terror attack on New York City inspired by ISIS.
The Justice Department says the men wanted to injure and maim as many people as possible during the summer of 2016, with music concerts, landmarks and crowded subways among the targets. A Canadian man was arrested after travelling to the U.S. to make preparations for carrying out the attacks.
He has already pleaded guilty to terrorism charges. A U.S. citizen in Pakistan and a Philippines man who is accused of financing the planned attack are also in custody. They are both being held for extradition.
In a report from ABC news, the men reportedly wanted to cause explosions along the underground subway systems and throughout times square.
According to ABC, “The alleged plot was to have been carried out in the summer of 2016. Court records said the planned attacks included detonating bombs in Times Square and in the New York City subway system, and shooting civilians at concert venues. The alleged plot was described as more aspirational than operational.”
