The NCAA has suspended Rick Pitino for Louisville’s first five ACC games in the 2017-18 season for failing to monitor his team in the wake of a sex scandal. The Cardinals also will be on probation for four years, have scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions.
Louisville will also forfeit any money received through conference revenue sharing from the 2012-15 NCAA Tournaments but will not have its 2013 national championship vacated. Louisville had a self-imposed 2015-16 postseason ban, but the NCAA didn’t feel that was enough and Pitino is not happy about the decision, saying, ”Not only was this unjust and over the top in its severity, but I’ve lost a lot of faith in the NCAA.”
