(Houston, TX) — Nine-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul is joining forces with James Harden in Houston. The Rockets have officially acquired Paul from the LA Clippers in exchange for a 2018 first-round draft pick and seven players. Rockets GM Daryl Morey says this was a move they felt compelled to make.
Paul opted in to the final year of his contract worth 24.2-million-dollars to facilitate the trade. He will now be eligible for a maximum five-year, 205-million-dollar deal next summer. The 32-year-old averaged 18.1 points, 9.2 assists and five rebounds in 61 games last season. Paul has posted 18.7 points, 9.9 helpers and 4.4 boards a contest over his 12-year career.
LA receives Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell, Darrun Hilliard, DeAndre Liggins and Kyle Wiltjer, as well as cash considerations. Beverley averaged 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists last year, while Williams notched 17.5 points a contest combined with the Rockets and Lakers.
