(POLAND) — U.S. Army tanks are returning to Europe as NATO moves to counter Russia’s recent military build-up.
General Frederick Hodges told NBC News that Abrams tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and other heavy combat equipment is being brought back as part of America’s “commitment to deterring aggression.”
Hodges, the senior U.S. Army commander in Europe, said the move is meant to reassure allies that Europe is safe and secure.
The Army also plans to deploy another four-thousand U.S. troops to Poland, Romania and the Baltic region starting next month.
