(Undated) — “Time” magazine’s Person of the Year for 2016 is president-elect Donald Trump. Time revealed its choice this morning on the “Today” show.
Trump beat out ten other finalists, including his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
“Time” Managing Editor Nancy Gibbs says Trump was chosen Person of the Year for “reminding America that demagoguery feeds on despair and that truth is only as powerful as the trust in those who speak it.”
Trump was also chosen “for empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and livestreaming its fears,” and for “framing tomorrow’s political culture by demolishing yesterday’s.”
