(Corpus Christi, TX) — Some people in the South Texas city of Corpus Christi are being allowed to start drinking tap water after a chemical got in the distribution system.
Mayor Dan McQueen announced restrictions have been lifted for the east and west portions of the city.
There are still restrictions in the downtown area, and it isn’t known when they’ll be lifted.
Investigators think up to 24 gallons of an asphalt emulsifier ended up in the system, but there are no reports of injuries or illnesses.
It isn’t known when the water will be declared clean of the chemical.
