(Washington, DC) — It may soon be a bit easier to buy concert or sports tickets at face value.
The U.S. Senate has passed the Better Online Ticket Sales, or BOTS Act.
It would prohibit the use of software to circumvent ticket purchasing limits or to sell tickets obtained that way across state lines.
It would also give the Federal Trade Commission authority to go after violators.
The legislation is meant to keep ticket bots from quickly buying up large numbers of seats and reselling them at a huge profit.
The bill now must be reconciled with a House version that has already passed.
