(Washington, DC) — Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan says Medicare will go bankrupt by 2028 and insists that reforms are needed now.
Democrats accuse Republicans of plotting to privatize the popular social program.
Ryan told a Capitol briefing that Democrats are employing scare tactics.
He also argued that Obamacare is hurting Medicare.
Republicans aim to repeal the healthcare reform law after Donald Trump becomes President next month.
