(Washington, DC) — President Obama says Donald Trump should be as concerned as he is about the possibility of foreign influence on the election.
In a White House press conference, Obama remarked that investigations showed that Russia hacked the Democratic National Committee before the election.
Obama said the press was obsessed with every tidbit of information that came out of those leaked DNC emails.
Obama remarked that his administration wants to make sure that sort of hacking doesn’t happen in the future.
He added that President-elect Donald Trump should be just as concerned about the issue as well.
Obama said the U.S. is sending a clear message to Russia and other foreign powers not to mess with elections, because America has the ability to mess back.
He also remarked that he doesn’t think publicly shaming Russian President Vladimir Putin would necessarily be effective.
