McCain Won’t “Pre-Judge” Tillerson Over Russia Ties

(Washington, DC)  —  Senator John McCain says he has concerns about President-elect Donald Trump’s reported pick for secretary of state.

The Arizona Republican, who is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, says he’ll want to further examine Rex Tillerson’s close ties to Russia.

The ExxonMobil chairman has a close personal relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin that stems from the oil company’s partnership with Russia’s Rosneft.

Trump calls Putin a “a thug” and “a murderer.”

But he tells Fox News that if Tillerson is Trump’s choice for secretary of state, he should not be pre-judged and he should be able to make his case in confirmation hearings.
