(Philadelphia, PA) — Former Pennsylvania Democratic Congressman Chaka Fattah is being sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The 60-year-old Fattah was also ordered to pay 600-hundred-thousand-dollars in restitution.
Fattah was convicted last summer of misspending government grants and charity money to fund his campaign and pay off personal expenses.
Prosecutors were seeking a much stiffer sentence of 17 to 22 years in prison for Fattah.
He’s the first member of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation to be sentenced on federal corruption charges since 1996.
