(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — First Lady Michelle Obama says that America is entering a “time of hopelessness” following the election outcome.
In her last formal interview as First Lady, Obama told Oprah Winfrey that her husband Barack kept his campaign promise of “hope and change” as President.
However, the First Lady noted that many in the country now feel the opposite.
Although she didn’t mention Trump by name, Obama said, quote, “We are feeling what not having hope feels like.”
She added that hope is necessary and more than “a nice slogan to get votes.”
The First Lady reflected back on her family’s eight years in the White House and looked ahead to what’s next.
The one-on-one interview will air on CBS on December 19th and again on the Oprah Winfrey Network December 21st.
