(Washington, D.C.) — Ten members of the Electoral College are asking for an intelligence briefing on Donald Trump’s possible Russian ties before they cast their votes.
The vote is set for December 19th when the electors are expected to officially make Trump the President-elect.
The electors, nine Democrats and one Republican, signed an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s daughter Christina Pelosi and former New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter are among them.
The letter calls for the electors to be granted a temporary security clearance to hear the briefings themselves.
The letter also expresses concern with Trump’s dismissal of intelligence findings connecting Russia to a possible hacking effort to influence the election.
