(Dallas, TX) — Two telecommunications giants announced their planned marriage in October, when AT&T struck a deal to acquire Time Warner for more than 85-billion dollars.
AT&T agreed to pay 107-dollars-50-cents a share in cash and stock for the parent of HBO, CNN and the Warner Bros. studio.
Both companies say they expect to finalize the merger by the end of 2017.
But closing the deal depends on getting the necessary approvals.
The hookup faces an uphill battle with regulators, who are expected to take about a year to review the proposed sale.
