(Houston, TX) — The world’s widest freeway is going to get a new set of stripes. Interstate 10, the Katy Freeway, is getting re-striped from Beltway 8 to west of State Highway 6 starting in February at a cost of one-point-three-million-dollars. The Texas Department of Transportation is confirming that, yes, multiple lanes of the 26-lane freeway will have to be closed for the highway-painting vehicles to do their work. Most of the closures during the four to five-month project will be in the overnight hours or on weekends
