(Washington, DC) — The White House and President-elect Donald Trump disagree over flag burning.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest told a briefing that freedom of expression is protected by the U.S. Constitution.
Trump said there must be “consequences” for people who burn the American flag.
Trump tweeted that those consequences might include a year in jail or loss of citizenship.
Earnest noted that it’s neither the first nor the last time that the current White House and the incoming president will have differences of opinion.
