(Undated) — Today is Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor the patriotism of the armed services past and present.
Governor Greg Abbott is honoring veterans in San Antonio.
He told people during AT&T Foundation’s ceremony for Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund they shouldn’t forget the sacrifices of “valiant troops that put themselves in harm’s way.”
He also thanked the nearly two million vets who live in Texas for everything they’ve done to defend “our cherished freedoms.”
In addition, there are freebies for veterans and active military members all over Texas today.
Texas Roadhouse locations nationwide are offering a free lunch to active duty, retired or former U.S. military.
Other restaurants offering free meals or appetizers include Applebee’s, Chili’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dickey’s and Olive Garden.
